Freedom Fries Follies: Celebrating the Arts of Dissent will bring together a diverse group of artists to express their opposition to war, poverty, and injustice through music, poetry, spoken word, irreverent wit, and drama. This fun and thought provoking evening will include a video produced especially for the event, presenting award-winning reporter, Greg Palast. Music of the movement will be performed by Conjunto Jardin, a jarocho and Nueva Cancion group. Critically acclaimed poets Eloise Klein Healy, Dima Hilal and Emma Rosenthal will read original work. Jude Narita, internationally known actor/writer will perform her monologues on the after effects of war. Also featured are the Street Poets United of Dreamyard/ LA., formerly incarcerated minors in the L.A. County juvenile detention system, whose powerful performances have taken place in theaters and community centers throughout Los Angeles. If you havent seen the humorous and outrageous Radical Cheerleaders for Peace at a recent demonstration, then you are in for a treat. More entertainment will be announced.
