As a parent and grandmother visiting the teen center, I found sport activities going on at the center, but no education programs were being provided. In my thoughts, since everything is being computerized, they should have some computers available for the youth that are attending the teen center. Computers at the teen center would help the students that may not have computers at home. We need to gear our community to help our youth and members progress in the technology age. The city in which we live in has an obligation to see that all children in the community are preparing for the future. My wish is to see more service organizations and city officials seek more grants and state and county funding resources for the improvement of our community. There are people in our community that can’t get around a lot and might need access to the Internet to be able to decrease their time in trips to the markets, pharmacy, and doctor visits. As a senior citizen, when I go to my meeting it would be nice if we could have computer training so that we can be useful at local schools in teaching the youth. As you know, there are a lot of grandparents raising their grandchildren. Most of the grandparents went to school decades ago without computers and everything was done by hand. It would be nice if we had computer training available to help our grandchildren. I hope our Board of Education and City Officials join together for the improvement of our community and help our youth and members progress.

Como madre y abuela visitando el centro para jóvenes, encontré actividades deportivas en el centro pero no programas educativos. En mis pensamientos, siendo que todo está siendo computarizado, deberían de tener computadoras en el centro para los jóvenes que asisten al centro. Tener computadoras en el centro para jóvenes ayudaría a los estudiantes que pueden no tener computadoras en sus casas. Necesitamos entrenar a nuestra comunidad para ayudar a los miembros y a la juventud a progresar en esta era tecnológica. La ciudad en la que vivimos tiene la obligación de asegurar que todos los niños se preparen para el futuro. Mi deseo es ver a más organizaciones y oficiales de la ciudad buscando dinero y financiamiento para mejorar nuestra comunidad. Hay personas en nuestra comunidad que no pueden transladarse de un lado a otro con facilidad y pueden necesitar acceso al Internet por computadora para poder disminuir el tiempo en viajes al supermercado, farmacia, y visitas al doctor. Como persona de avanzada edad, cuando voy a mi reunión sería bueno que pudiéramos tener clases en computación para poder ser útiles en las escuelas locales enseñando a nuestra juventud. Como ustedes saben, hay muchos abuelos criando a sus nietos. Muchos de los abuelos fueron a la escuela décadas atrás cuando no había computadoras y todo era hecho manualmente. Sería bueno tener clases de computación disponibles para poder ayudar a nuestros nietos. Espero que nuestro Consejo Educativo y representantes guvernamentales se unan para el mejoramiento de nuestra comunidad y ayuden a nuestra juventud y miembros a progresar.
