Our kids are beginning to explore the education process and by the time they get to high school they have need to have mastered the techniques and skills they need to be competitive in life. I think that the District has an obligation to educate the parents and children in the community. The school district must recognize that they must branch out to the community they reside in and fulfill the needs of the people. Thanks to organizations at UCLA and UCI parents are trained to gather resources inside and outside of the community in order to improve our community. If more activities are available at the school site, then parents will stay on campus more. Parents are willing to help and need professional development so that we can work in offices at the school. As you may know school budgets have been cut back, but schools are not using the help of the parents and community to help in this crisis. Sometimes we feel that administrators feel that we have low incomes, but we are not stupid. If they teach us, we can make them proud. In Lynwood, parents are looking for partners that say "yes!" to helping us and to empowering and promoting education to all of our residents.

Nuestros hijos comienzan a explorar el proceso educativo y para cuando lleguen a la escuela secundaria necesitarán dominar técnicas y abilidades para ser competentes en la vida. Creo que el Distrito tiene la obligación de educar a los padres y a los niños en la comunidad. El distrito escolar tiene que reconocer que tiene que extenderse a la comunidad en la que residen y responder a las necesidades de las personas. Gracias a organizaciones en UCLA y UCI los padres son educados para obtener recursos dentro y fuera de la comunidad para mejorarla. Si más actividades son proveídas en la escuela misma, entonces los padres se quedarían más en el plantel escolar. Los padres están dispuestos a ayudar y necesitan ayuda en el desarrollo profesional para trabajar en las oficinas de la escuela. Como ustedes saben, los recursos de las escuelas han sido recortados, pero las escuelas no están usando a los padres y a la comunidad para sobrellevar esta crisis. Hay veces creemos que la administración piensa que tenemos bajos recursos, pero no somos estupidos. Si nos enseñan, podemos hacerlos sentir orgullosos. En Lynwood, los padres están en busca de padres que digan "si!" y nos ayuden a autorizar y promover la educación para todos nuestros residentes.
