Beverly Hills High School, Beverly Hills Unified
If you had more of a voice, what would you change in your school and community? Why do people choose to vote?
I would make my school and community safer. I believe that it is very necessary to be safe because fear from gangs, car accidents, drugs, etc. is so great and so common. One cannot and should not live with fear. Thus, I would propose tougher laws against crime, more police forces around the city, and more education. Thus, a community would become much better.
- O'Neil, Grade 12,
People choose to vote either because they are unsatisfied with the current government or with any possible change in government. For example, if one is against a politician's policy, he will make sure to vote against it. If he is for it, he would be unsatisfied if it is not passed, and will vote for it. This explains why there is such a high voter turnout during depressions when people want change.
